Good morning Class 5 and welcome to another action packed day of learning! I hope the Anglo Saxon villages are coming along well, the ones I have seen look absolutely fabulous! I can’t wait to see the rest! Well done as well on a recent English work; we are really using some great vocabulary in our writing – keep it up! So today’s work is as follows.

English: In this lesson, we will start off by thinking about what would be happening in the current situation after a major event. What tense would we be speaking in when we are talking about something that is happening now? You will be guided through the use of a sentence scaffold to say something about the pictures in the present tense. You will then write a sentence in the present tense. Next, you will look at the success criteria for the lesson. Then you will look at the planning from the previous lesson to base the final paragraphs on. The teacher will model some shared writing before leaving you to write your own versions. At the end, you will read through the final paragraph of the newspaper report.

Guided Reading: Today we will read the opening part of The Giant’s Necklace. We will look to understand the main character’s personality by analysing language and a conversation between the main character and her mother.

GPS: Today, we will revise the three tenses: past, present, future. We will then break them down into past, present and future progressive tense. Lastly, we will recap knowledge of how regular and irregular verbs change in the past tense.

Maths: Today we will be looking at order of operations and BIDMAS. Please watch the tutorial before completing the work. It does help massively when you come to complete the sheet.

Once you have marked it please upload to seesaw.

Theme: For the start of the afternoon, I would like you to continue with your Anglo Saxon Village. I would like this to be completed first before any other afternoon task. Please see yesterday’s post for more details. Think carefully about the detail that needs to be included – I cant wait to see the finished designs.

Theme/Computing – To finish off our work on houses and settlements in Anglo Saxon Times, today I want to set you the challenge of being an Estate Agent. I would like you to sell an Anglo-Saxon house or settlement to me or someone at home.

You can choose to sell a house from above or even better use one of your own from your Anglo-Saxon Villages. I would like you to make a leaflet, poster, web page or video to show why I should buy your house, what is included with the house and how much it costs. Remember to use descriptive language to make it sound like the perfect home. You can use the template below if you wish, record a video or upload pictures and added description to a Word or Publisher program. The choice is yours!

Below is a video of a house being sold. Have a watch of a few seconds of it to see the type of language they use to make it sound amazing. Perhaps you could make a video to sell your anglo- saxon house

Music (Complete last): This lesson includes a warm-up game, learning a traditional song from Nigeria, followed by an exploration of syncopated rhythms.
