Good morning Class 5 and welcome to another day of remote learning. Well done yesterday on another fantastic day we had over 200 posts of work and you really are impressing me with what you are producing. Just two quick requests, please make sure when you are uploading work if you can get the whole piece in one photo that would be brilliant. I know sometimes this is difficult and impossible if its double-sided but let’s try our best. Also can we make sure we zoom in and try and take the best picture possible – it makes it so much easier to read.

So today’s learning is as follows.

English: We are going to watch and analyse the opening clip to a film version of Oliver Twist and generate nouns and adjectives to describe the setting and characters and verbs and adverbs to describe the action. Finally, we will use our new vocabulary to help us write sentences.

Remember to write ambitious sentences and come up with mature vocabulary to describe the characters and the action.

Guided Reading: This activity needs to be completed before midday on Thursday (2 sessions). Answers will then be posted at dinner time so that you can self mark and upload to Seesaw. Don’t upload until you have marked the answers. Both the text and the questions are on seesaw also.

Maths: We are still continuing our work on decimals. Today we are going to be looking at multiplying and dividing numbers by 10, 100 and 1000.

Both Worksheets are also available on Seesaw if you prefer – remember to mark the answers when the answer sheet becomes available later in the afternoon then upload to seesaw.

Art:

In Art we are going to investigate Anglo Saxon jewelry and hopefully try to make some of our own. Below are some images of jewelry in the style of Anglo-Saxons. What do you notice about the shapes and patterns in the pieces? Please discuss your ideas with someone at home.

Your challenge today is to see if you can find any patterns in your home. You might need to look very closely at things. When you find something, I would like you to take a photograph of it on a tablet or a phone. When you have taken a few photographs, I would like you to create a photo collage of your images. Pic Collage is the free app we use in school but there are many others available. (Please ask a grown up before downloading any apps, the app will be very useful for a number of activities during home learning.) If you don’t have a device available please see the extension below…

Extension – Can you sketch some of the patterns and shapes you found? (If you are unable to take photos please sketch and colour what you find)

These are some examples Mrs Altoft found in her house.

Music – This unit is based upon Duration and the first lesson focuses on Pulse, click on the link below and work through the video.
