Highlights: It has been a busy week in Class 5 this week with the children working hard in all areas of the curriculum. In English, we have been working on informal letters and we are just about to write our final piece to the character Skellig from our Guided Reading Book. In Geography, we have been locating the 10 deadliest Earthquakes that have occurred before explaining why they think the happened in those locations. In maths we have been working hard on problem solving and trying to understand mathematical vocabulary which will help us choose the correct operation to solve the problem.
What’s happening next week: Next week is super busy in Class 5. Could we please try and bring in a cereal box in on Monday for a Science lesson and also the items needed for the Christmas Fair.
Spellings: There are no new spelling this week. Please work on consolidating any words we have struggled with this half term. There will be 15 spellings on Friday from words we have already learnt.
Class Focus: Christmas Fair Preparation! For the Christmas Fair and the stalls, we are going to run in Class 5, please could we work together as a team and bring in the items below to make it a success. We will need to run our stalls:
Jam Jar filled with sweets / boxes of chocolate (everyone – for a tombola, bring nearer the time).
10 empty and CLEAN tin cans.
Some small/light branches for reindeer ears.
Please can these be brought in this week so we can start to organise ourselves.
All this would be hugely appreciated.
Homework: Children need to learn the songs for the Christmas play. We will be singing them without the words on Monday.
Dates for your diary: Please see below for dates for your diary. There is a change to the Christmas Fair date with that now being on the 17th of December. Also Ks2 Christmas performance will be on Wednesday 18th December (9.30am and then again 10.30am).
