Good morning Class 5 – I hope you had a good day yesterday! Judging by the look of all the fantastic work that was produced you had a great day. Well done Class 5. Again today we will be carrying on with our English and Maths units of work but we will also be starting our Science topic – Light and Sound. Let’s have a look below to see the tasks for today.

English: In this lesson, we will explore word class. We will focus on identifying nouns, adjectives, adverbs and verbs in sentences. We then explore what prepositions are and identify these in sentences. Please again complete each task that is asked of you, recording and marking your answers as you go along before uploading to seesaw.

Maths: Again we are going to the following on from our work yesterday on decimals. The process is exactly the same as yesterday: watch the video lesson and then complete the sheet by either downloading it from the blog or annotating the one on seesaw.

Worksheet:

Guided Reading: Below is a short guided reading task – if the download does not quite work then the template is also available on seesaw.

Science:

We are going to be introducing our new unit today “light and sound” and we will be watching a video tutorial about light. We are going to learn about what light is, where it comes from and how shadows are formed. We are also going to complete an investigation into how light behaves with transparent, translucent and opaque objects. You will need a piece of paper and a pencil for this lesson. If you would like to take part in the practical investigation you will need: a light source (e.g. lamp, torch or phone light), a piece of paper, a piece of cardboard and a piece of something transparent (e.g. clear plastic). If you do not have these items you can still complete the lesson by watching the demonstration. Please work neatly and record anything that is asked of you, whether it be results tables, predictions or explanations about the science that you investigated. I look forward to seeing your work.
